Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Wasatha: Jurnal Studi Islam dan Humaniora welcomes the submission of original, unpublished manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of Islamic studies and humanities. All submissions must adhere to the following guidelines.

A. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Originality: Manuscripts must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration elsewhere.

2. Language: Manuscripts may be written in English, Arabic, or Bahasa Indonesia. English is strongly encouraged for international indexing.

3. Length: 5,000 - 8,000 words including references, tables, and figures.

4. Abstract: 150-250 words in English, clearly stating: objective, method, results, and conclusion. Include 3-5 keywords.

5. Plagiarism: Maximum similarity score of 20% (excluding references). All manuscripts are screened using Turnitin or similar software.

B. MANUSCRIPT STRUCTURE

1. Title: Concise, informative, maximum 15 words.

2. Author Information: Full name, institutional affiliation, ORCID ID (strongly encouraged), email address, and corresponding author designation.

3. Abstract and Keywords (English).

4. Introduction: Background, research gap, objectives, and significance of the study.

5. Literature Review / Theoretical Framework (if applicable).

6. Method: Research design, data sources, data collection techniques, and analysis methods.

7. Results and Discussion: Findings presented systematically with analysis and comparison to previous studies.

8. Conclusion: Summary of key findings, limitations, and recommendations for future research.

9. References: Only cited sources. Use Mendeley, Zotero, or similar reference managers.

10. Appendices (if any).

C. CITATION AND REFERENCE STYLE

Use the Chicago Manual of Style (17th edition) – Notes and Bibliography system, or APA 7th Edition. Be consistent throughout the manuscript.

Journal article:
Author, First Name. "Title of Article." Journal Name Volume, no. Issue (Year): page range. DOI/URL.

Book:
Author, First Name. Book Title. Place: Publisher, Year.

Chapter in edited book:
Author, First Name. "Chapter Title." In Book Title, edited by Editor Name, page range. Place: Publisher, Year.

D. SUBMISSION PREPARATION

1. File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

2. Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing

3. Margins: 2.5 cm (top, bottom, left, right)

4. Page numbering: Bottom center

5. Tables and figures: Editable format, numbered sequentially, with clear titles and sources

6. Arabic script: Use traditional Arabic font (e.g., Traditional Arabic, Scheherazade) size 14 pt

E. SUBMISSION PROCESS

1. Register and log in at: [wasatha]

2. Click "New Submission" and follow the five-step process

3. Upload your manuscript in .doc or .docx format

4. Submit supplementary files (if any): research instruments, data sets, ethics approval, etc.

5. Complete the submission checklist and confirm copyright transfer

F. REVIEW PROCESS

Wasatha uses a double-blind peer review process:

1. Initial screening by editors (3-7 days)

2. Assignment to two independent reviewers (14-21 days)

3. Editorial decision: Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject

4. Revision submission deadline: 14 days for minor, 30 days for major revisions

5. Final decision and publication notification

G. PUBLICATION FREQUENCY

Wasatha is published twice per year:
- Issue 1: January - June
- Issue 2: July - December

Manuscripts are published online immediately upon acceptance (continuous publication).

H. PUBLICATION ETHICS

Wasatha follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. Any misconduct including plagiarism, data fabrication, and multiple submissions will result in immediate rejection and potential ban.
