Strategies of Islamic Education Teachers in Cultivating a Religious Culture Among Students at MIN 11 Banda Aceh

This research aims to examine the influence of religious culture on students' spiritual intelligence. The study employs a survey research method. Based on documentation and observations at the research site, several issues were identified that pose challenges for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers. These include students violating school rules, skipping classes, speaking loudly near teachers, and some even requiring intervention from the guidance and counseling department. To address these issues, MIN 11 Banda Aceh has implemented religious cultural practices as a solution. Although it is a public school, the institution strives not only to enhance students' academic knowledge but also to nurture their faith and devotion to Allah SWT. This study aims to answer the following research questions: (a) What strategies do Islamic Religious Education teachers employ to cultivate a religious culture among students at MIN 11 Banda Aceh? (b) What factors hinder the implementation of these strategies in instilling religious culture among students at MIN 11 Banda Aceh? This research adopts a qualitative approach with a multisite study design, conducted at MIN 11 Banda Aceh. The data sources include informants, events, locations, and documents. Data collection techniques include participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal the following: (1) The strategy of PAI teachers in fostering honesty among students involves consistently serving as role models in speech and behavior, aligning their actions with Islamic teachings. (2) The strategy for fostering humility among students is the consistent implementation of the 5S culture—Smile, Greet, Regard, Politeness, and Courtesy—towards parents, teachers, guests, and peers. (3) The strategy for cultivating discipline among students includes regular congregational Zuhr and Dhuha prayers, Quran recitation, participation in flag ceremonies every Monday, punctuality in attending classes, adherence to dress code regulations, and teacher discipline, as teachers serve as role models for students at MIN 11 Banda Aceh.
